I did it last night whilst cleaning the kitchen (that'll teach me, eh? lol) the vein at the base of my thumb popped out. It felt really hard and was very painful, so, I put ice on it.
this morning - my whole thumb is a black/purple bruise! and tingling and painful!
will it get better on its own- or should I go to my GP (or will I just be wasting his time?)
Appreciate any advice

U should c your doctor just to be sure. Meantimes use compressive gloves to help heal the injury.

Ugh! This is why I don't clean. Waaaaaaaay too dangerous and risky. Hit up that hospital already!

Go see your doctor. With the tingling and everything else, it may be more than just bruised.
