Positive TB skin test and Positive Chest Xray what does could it mean?

    It is possible you have been exposed to tb, it has nothing to do with smoking. Tuberculous is a infection and highly contagious.

    Please see doctor for more tests and treatment and try and stay away from others.

    Did you actually have a TB skin test? If so, then just because the skin area is red, does not mean it's positive. The area where they injected the PPD needs to be hardened. (they call this induration).

    You would also need to see cavitating lesions on a chest x-ray. Did your doc see this? )This is what TB looks like on a chest x-ray.

    If you have all these then more than likely you have been exposed to TB. You will need to do a round of treatment. Smoking and drinking do not have anything to do with getting TB, but coughing up the blood is a sign. It's contagious, so stay away from people until you get a definitive diagnosis and cover ALL coughs!
