It sounds as though your doctor/optician feels that your prescription is too strong for close ranges, and this is actually very good advice if you can see well without correction. Follow the advice of your eye-care professional...do not listen to the advice of most people on Yahoo Answers who may be in a different situation.
Don't worry about tomorrow...they will not let you leave the office with your contacts until you learn how to insert and remove them properly.
Try getting accustomed to touching your eyes today. Make sure your hands are clean, and while sitting in front of a mirror, look at yourself as you touch your eye with your index finger. Start right below your bottom eyelid and then move to another spot. Remember not to over-do it, because you wouldn't want to get your eyes irritated.
Good Luck!

Questions about contact lenses?

I was about 18/ 19 when I first started wearing lenses. I was advised not to wear them too much when using the computer, but I chose to ignore this advice. I've been wearing them about 3 years now, and I have trouble using the computer with lenses in, so personally, I would listen to what they say. HOWEVER, it may be worth getting a second opinion. Try visiting an independent optician and see what they say. I get my lenses from specsavers because they're cheap, but they're also more sales orientated. I personally find that the independent ones give better advice.

Hey, I am 13 years old (14 soon) and I have glasses for seeing things far away as I am short sighted. Today I went to specsavers for contact lenses and had the eye test and everything and the optician put them in my eyes for the first time. It didn't hurt, just felt weird with her touching my eye. I have to go back tomorrow to see if I can put them in and out by myself. But my real question is, she said I cannot wear them all the time like everyday. She said that I could wear them for doing sports, social events etc. She said this because when I am reading and going on the computer everyday that it would strain my eye as I am still growing? Is this true? Also what are some tips for contact lenses if I get them tomorrow because I cannot get them if I do not know how to put them in and take them out correctly.
Thank you.Posted 2 years ago #
