Scared of meningitis!?

the last couple of days, i've had a headache, which on a scale of 1-10 is about a 5 or 6, so it's not severe.
it's not constant, more like on and off really.
it like switches sides of my head, so one time it could be left, another could be right, and another could be the back of my head.
i've also had ear aches with it too, on and off.
but now and again, i get a shooting pain from my neck to the back of my head, that lasts about 2 seconds, then goes.
that's only happened twice so far, but it scared the hell outta' me.
i've also had mild neck pain, but that's not bad at all really.
it doesn't feel stiff, it just hurts and aches a tiny bit.

yesterday night, i had this headache again, and i started getting a bit of a sore throat.
i don't know why, but i suddenly remembered reading about meningitis awhile ago when i was in another of one of my bad hypochondriac stages.
so, then, i proceeded to google bacterial meningitis on my iphone, which wasn't one of my best ideas...

as soon as i read words like 'can kill in under 4 hours.' 'medical emergency' 'some patients show no symptoms' 'you don't have to have all the symptoms to have meningitis' 'fine one day, dead the next.'
    i started to panic ALOT.
i didn't just read about it on any old site, i went on sites like NHS, and the official meningitis website, so i assume they know what they're talking about.

    i'm soooo scared right now!
what if i ever get meningitis or if i have it now!?
how will i know for sure if i have it, or if its just a flu or virus?!
what if my parents don't believe that i have it, and it's too late!?

i had some sort of meningitis jab when i was a tiny baby, but none since then if i can remember.
i'm 14 years old, and will be 15 in September.
    PLEASE HELP ME! :(

    You do not have meningitis.

When they say that you don't have to have the symptoms, they mean that is some really rare cases, some person did not feel the symptoms or discarded them as being a cold.

I have been a GP for over 20 years now and I have never encountered anyone with meningitis that did not feel like absolute crap. A meningitis headache is very severe. By the way, since it's an infection, you generally have fever as well. Check your fever, start panicking only if it goes over 40°C.

You probably have a cold or a virus, nothing too serious. It can also be a panic attack.

Take it easy, if your headache persists until tomorrow, go see a doctor.
