Should I be concerned about my sore throat/strep throat?

(2 posts)
  1. I read on the internet about sore throats and researched my symptoms and it sounds like I have strep throat but, my throat doesn't hurt really badly. I wanted the opinion and symptoms of others who have strep throat.
    My symptoms include...
    1) A sudden onset of a sore throat on monday followed in three hours by a high fever
    2) Headache
    3) Throat feels dry and no mater how much water I drink, it still feels dry
    4) Hurts to swallow but on a 1-10 scale I would give it a 4
    5) I looked at the back of my throat today and I was able to see that it was bright red w/ white patches and I could see my tonsils

Today I woke up feeling just fine but I think I might have not taken it as easy as I should have because my sore throat is coming back really fast and I think I may have a temperature again.
I have been drinking a lot of fluids and I'm going to start sucking on raw ginger (natural anti-biotic). Anything else you might sugest that does not include pills (can't swallow them)? Thanks! :)

Yes. You've got all the info, and your conclusion is correct. The classic strep indications should be looked at by your doctor. If they go on too long without treatment, they could spread into rheumatic fever or other problems. Take care of yourself!
