    "But what do you think?"
It's normal mole, follow your doctor advices

"Should I pursue this even further?"
    No

"do I just let it go where it's at now?"
    Definitely

Mole can developes anywhere in our skin, It still normal when it stopped growing (not getting bigger, not having an irregulare shape/border, no bleeding, no elevation, etc)

I once panicked when I got a mole at my sclera (white part of the eye).

Just remember that getting new moles is normal. If the moles you have suddenly start to darken, change shape or hurt (like you doc said) it is important to follow-up. If there were other reasons that your Dr. gave you to believe he might not have been honest, or paying enough attention to you then I would get a second opinion, but if it is just the development of moles that has you worried, I think you are okay! :)

I have no idea what you mean. Everyone gets new moles and I have never given it a second thought. Not even at your age. It is very unusual for cancer to occur in multiple places at once and you don’t need to have a mole present to have skin cancer.
