I came down with a cold at the end of January .. (Jan 27th) After a few days I noticed a change in my mucus .. Went to the doctor and got some antibiotics ... (Feb 4th) And I Was still congested ! Went back to the doctor on the 9th and he gave me a steroid to stop the swelling in my nose. The next day I found out I was allergic to Predisone Steriod so had to stop taking that. But, it stoped the congestion ... And once I stopped taking it my congestion is back !
WHAT DO I DO? Tomorrow is the last day of my antibiotics, 10 days on them and I am STILL congested ! Ugh anyone out there got any answers, tips .. ?
.. When I took the Predisone, after a couple hours I got HOTT ! I sweated the whole night.. and when I woke up in the morning my face was flushed, very red. Hot all day and then the next day it was worse, people thought I had passed out in the tanning bed. Later on the second day my hands swelled and I got itchy.. the doctor said to stop taking it .. those were allergic signs ... and to finish the antibiotics.

I don't really have any mucus in my nose.. it mostly clear.

most people are not allergic to Prednisone, as that is the treatment for allergic reactions. what happened when you took it? cold viruses can become bacterial sinus conditions, most antibiotics don't reach high enough concentration levels to clear sinus infections. The best and fastest way to clear nasal congestion is Neilmed sinus rinse, with premade packets from Walmart. Has all the info you need about sinus infections. If they are persistent or you have polyps or you have shortness of breath, have IgG levels checked and get tested for cystic fibrosis. Often , nasal steroids are used instead of systemic ones. Nasonex, Flonase, Omnaris, etc. Afrin spray will shrink the nasal tissue. Antibiotics are for bacteria. Did he culture you? Any shortness of breath? If you continue to take antibiotics for sinus infections, you will eventually get resistance to them, but they won't clear the mucus out of your sinuses. You should have a CT scan done if persistent. The best test for CF is DNA if all other tests are negative, sweat and common panel screening test.
