Soy Allergy Question?

My niece is 16 and thinks she is allergic to soy. I say she cannot be because she eats a lot of vegetarian foods made with soy with no problem. She insists she must have an allergy to soy because of a reaction when she has soy milk. Her symptoms included nausea, itchy mouth and abdominal pain. She says the first time it took a while for the symptoms to kick in and the next time it was much sooner. But she seems to enjoy a lot of food with soy without any problem. Is it really a soy allergy? Or is it an intolerance? Could it have been a fluke?

She can't be allergic to soy if she eats it!

There may have been another ingredient in the milk that she reacted to, or she suffered from an illness and thought it was caused by the milk.
