I am not medically qualified I admit but know that nails are made from protein(keratin) so I cannot see what vitamin b would do to help.
I googled vitamin b in wikipedia which listed numerous reasons why the body needs it. There was no mention of any benefit to nails.
For these reasons I do not think that taking vitamin b would benefit your nails.

  2. A deficiency in vitamin A, vitamin C, zinc, iron, calcium, vitamin D which is needed to absorb calcium, iodine, magnesium, riboflavin (vitamin B2), biotin (vitamin B7), folic acid (vitamin B9) and vitamin B12 (all the B vitamins are needed to work together) all have an effect on your nails. My nails are terrible from vitamin B12 deficiency. When looking for a supplement, always check what additives there are in addition to the vitamins and minerals as they may cause acne, skin irritation and other side effects. I like the product called Alive! This effervescent has all essential vitamins and minerals (and then some!) and is an all natural product.

If you need something for your nails, vitamin B may not be the answer. What you need is Protein! Try taking a protein supplement for an animal source (goat milk like Caprotein from Mt Capra: http://cnnutrition.com/en/product.php?find=MTC-A05-CAP-02-01). If you are looking into the best B vitamins, just make sure that you take one with at least 50mg of B1 and B6. Make sure that your B vitamin also has lipotrophic agents like Choline, Inositol or PABA to enhance the B vitamins actions. Check out this B complex: http://cnnutrition.com/en/product.php?find=VTA-A13-VBC-01-01. This one I take personally and it is great for energy and stress!

In taking Vitamin B, you need to get a whole food supplment, not something made in a laboratory. Nowhere in nature does all the B vits come in 50mg, or 100 mg each. They are needed at the same ratio as food along with all the co-factors.

Whole food means it is made from foods, not test tubes. Standard Process is one company that has this type of supplement. There are many other companies.
