i am in the hospital with a broken arm the break is almost by my elbow so i am in a full cast anyways i got a cramp today and i started to try to bend my arm but i can't cause of my cast and i really hurt my arm and i was in the most pain i have ever bin in before. i was crying and what not and my doctor ran in cause of my heart rate going up so much. to find me crying in pain anyways she changed my iv bag to something other then fluids.

    this is what it did.

1 after 3-4mins it kicked in
2 it took away all pain
    3 it made me sleepy
    4 made me really happy
    5 made my really comfortable
6 made me relax big time
7 made me fall asleep after 15mins

what did they give me i want to ask but i am a little shy

They gave you some sort of opiate derivative. Probably morphine.

    im thinking of morphine.
i had morphine given to me,and it was IV drips:first i started feeling warm/flushed-the whole body.
my body felt heavy, especially my chest and my head too,and got relaxed/sleepy and i too fell asleep.
oh yes, my gallbladder pain was gone.

  8. Morphine or Fentanyl (fentanyl is 100 times more potent than morphine)

  12. Well there's a lot of medicine that can do that but the most common they use in a situation like that is Morphine!

I cannot tell what they may have given you, but what I can encourage you to do is ask...even if it is awkward. No matter what, it is YOUR body and you have a right to be informed about what is being given to you or what is being done to you.

Probablly Morphine, but if you were in extreme pain maybe they gave you Dilaudid, they gave me that when I was burned, oh man I was trippin and then I passed out, haha best high ever.

Ask them. You have every right to know what medicines they put in your body and actually they are supposed to tell you what they give you before they give it to you so you are aware of what you're receiving, although sometimes it is hard to remember if they told you at all, let alone what the medicine was. I had that happen after my last surgery.

  16. Doctors don't change IV bags. Nurses do that.
There might have been an IV pain med injected into your line when the bag was changed, or you are on a PCA pump delivering pain med. Ask the nurse the next time they come in. They will tell you. It's no big deal. If you are on a PCA machine, it has a button that you should have been given to push for pain med and it would have been explained to you. That is if you are capable of pushing a button, which I assume you are if you typed this.

Ask them! I'm guessing morphine. It works real fast and you can reverse it real easy.
