Trouble paying attention?

I have ADHD and I often find that I have trouble paying attention. Even with my current dose of medication, I find that unless I am very interested in the subject at hand or the information is important, it goes in one ear and out the other. For example, I enjoyed my Biology class last September very much and I can still remember half the material. Or, if I had an exam set to take place very soon, I'd be able to take in much more information than if it were a week or more away. It's gotten to the point where I'll realize that I completely forgot a conversation I've just had or one that I am in the middle of. Sometimes I'll wake up one morning and find that I can't remember any details of the previous day. This makes it difficult to complete multi-step activities as I'll put something down and forget I ever used it or make a mental note for myself and disregard it immediately.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

forgetting is a classic symptom of ADHD. i do it all the time.

you need to be on the right amount of medication. usually when we are put on medication we are put on the smallest dose to see if the side effects will interfere with us. then after that the docs usually up the dosage.

for your memory, society says "you are just going to HAVE to remember and stop being lazy"

but what us ADHDers say is "trust me its ok, it isnt going to ruin your entire life, just make sure you have an organizer, calendar, and medication"
