is it swollen?? if it is its probably broken.. if it only hurts it could be a fracture or just sprained... the cast will probably be from ur thumb all the to your elbow but not exceeding the elbow.. you should see the doc.

what are the signs of a broken scaphoid bone(wrist)?

ok i totaly just did this like a few months ago. symptoms and pain in the thumb side of your wrist sometimes swelling it may also be hard to grip objects. it doesnt necesarily hurt all that bad most doctors diegnois it as a sprain when its really a fracture as long as its not completly separated it wouldnt need surgery just a cast for a little while hope i helped :)
