My left eye got severely damaged when I was in Afghanistan from an RPG.

I still have the eye but I basically can not see anything with it. The only thing I can see is light and some shapes.

I can function with my other eye but it would be nice to see out of both just wondering can they repair it?

  2. I don't know much, but here are some links that talk about curing blindess using stem cells and such. Hope it helps.

You really need a referral and an examination to help you with this one. Noone on answers is going to be able to tell you what sort of chance there is. I wish you every luck; also remember that if the answer is negative its always worth keep going back. Matters change very fast - what is not possible today is not possible tomorrow.

If you have seen to an ophthalmologist who advised you that they cannot restore your vision because of the severe damage, then as of now I doubt there is any surgery could change that diagnosis. If you've only been to one ophthalmologist, you might want to get a second opinion from another ophthalmologist. Do not give up hope, new surgeries are discovered every day and eventually, one might be discovered that would restore your vision.

G-d Bless You and thank you for serving your country and protecting us.

Technology is improving, there might be surgery in the future, keep going to ophthalmologists(eye surgeons) and ask them for an opinion, Jonathan is talking about natural blindness or blindness related to disease you blindness though is related to injury for heroic movement.

    Good luck
