What could be causing my high blood pressure?

(3 posts)
  1. Two weeks ago my BP was 113/70 at the dentist's office. Yesterday I had it checked at work and it was 136/80, and then at Walmart later that night was 139/84. I am 27, don't smoke, exercise a few days a week and eat generally well with lots of fruits and veggies, not much fatty foods and very little fried foods. It's winter and I don't know if being stuck indoors is making me anxious or what, but this high BP is scaring me! Also, the machine said my pulse was 104, but I checked it later and it was in the 80s.
Yea, ya know, the first lady who took my BP said that the machine wasn't even working in the morning. I think thinking about it is just making me more anxious lol. Oh, and I doubt Obama is causing my high BP :-) But, politics are for another day.

Any blood pressure device that does NOT USE the mercury baumanometer type (made by the company) are INACCURATE.

I'm talking about any BP device with the dials and the electronic TRASH they use at hospitals. Even the doctors and nurses know they are inaccurate but they continue to use it because of time and laziness factor.

That may be why so many people are diagnosed with high blood pressure.

I would be thrilled to have a BP as low as yours. The figure that maters most is the bottom one, which is ideally around 80, depending on age and a few other factors. Seeing 70, 80, 84 is no cause for alarm.

Also, it varies at different times during the day.

If it still worries you, go see your doctor. I am sure s/he will put your mind at ease.
