Sigh....it hurt a little. Nothing to be scared about.

A machine is used to squeeze your breast between two plates. They are squeezed different ways to get pictures of what's inside. Good news - no needles!!!

I have been told a mammogram feels like a steam roller is driven over your breast smashing it flat as a pancake - might be less severe depending on the x-ray technician. hope this helps.

They can be quite uncomfortable, but shouldn't really be painful.

To get a good resolution your breast tissue needs to be flattened between 2 plates - uncomfortable.

To get all the breast tissue on the view, the corner of the plate needs to fit tightly into your underarm - uncomfortable.

On the bright side, I am assuming that if you are young, you are getting a lump investigated, 80% of breast lumps investigated are not cancer.

Takes some Tylenol about an hour before your appointment, you will feel less pain. Think about closing your breast in a refrigerator door, luckily, it doesn't last but a few seconds. It will be over before you know it. Good Luck.

  6. Why four thumbs down, poor fella? He speaks the truth - my greatest fear is that I might pass out and hang from the machine by my poor tit. But that's because I have more scar tissue than breast left.
