let it grow out. cutting nails too short lets the skin grow over them, causing problems.

I'm so sorry to hear of your predicament, dear lady.

I don't know whether you'd need to visit the hospital as I can't feel the pain from where I'm sitting.

What I would say, however, is that because your toe has turned "purple and red" you do need to see a doctor. There's every chance that you MAY need antibiotics... whether as an immediate treatment, or as a preventative measure. I'm pretty sure that you know about the risks involved with diabetic complications ... and some of these do start in the extremities, such as your feet or your hands ... so I won't go on about taking care of yourself better.

Ideally, you should see a podiatrist/chiropodist for your foot care ... especially if your vision has become affected, or you have any change in sensation recognition (feel pains or numbness in your feet).

You may like, until you see your doctor, to try soaking your foot in water containing salt. This aids in cleansing and sterilising [sterilizing, if you're one of my American cousins] the area. You may also like to consider applying some type of antibiotic cream. Do, please, accept that this is ONLY a temporary measure, and you should see your doctor for proper medical care.

I hope your toe soon improves, and in a short amount of time too.

    Be well, dear lady.

You should be seeing a doctor for your feet. Do not take care of it yourself. You could get an infection which can develop into gangrene and you could lose a foot.
Yes I am trying to scare you (It could happen) Get it taken care of ASAP
