She needs to be seen by her primary care doctor!! She could have fibroids on her uterus. Any kind of bleeding is not good she needs a pelvic ultrasound to see where the bleeding is coming from.

Fiboids or she may need a Hysterectomy. www.nwhn.org or www.hormonepatch.com or www.hersfoundation.org Make sure she understand her options and look into only getting a Partial Hysterectomy if possible. Do not let anyone talk her into anything, but loss of a lot of blood is very serious and I pray you have taken her to the ER. They will remove her uterus the place where a baby grow when a woman is pregnant. But keep everything else and keep your menustration, or you will be subject to hormone problems. I had a friend that did a partial and she is very happy. Many men complain about full hysterectomy women sexual feelings in the vagina. they claim its not the same. so do research

I am pre menopausal (my diagnosis, because there is no other answer. I have gone to the doctor w/ no answer from tests). After the birth of my 1st son @ 36 I began experience my problems. Heavy cycles where I wore super plus tampons & super pads, then had to change both after 2 to 2 1/2 hrs. Right before my 2nd son @ 41 I began not to have a regular cycle & very light (17 to 34 days between & very light for about 4 days).
Before all this I had regular cycles (24 days w/ 5-6 days of menses).
