'We both know you are going to get better with smokin weed and eventually give it up. Right? Its an expensive addiction. Worse than cigs. Messes with your blood sugar too. =(
I want you alive. You know how happy I'll be when you stop right? Until then Im just going to wait and continue to be there for you.'

    ??

What do you all get from that. Do I sound more like a caring big brother, or more like a parent? He is my life. I don't know what I'd do if I were to lose him.

Would you all say this touched his heart?
You've been a type 1 diabetic for 12 years and you are saying that smoking weed doesn't affect your blood sugar levels? Yeah it does. He even told me last night (I dropped him off at home and he was pretty high) and he told me that after he smoked a blunt it made his BGL's go reallly low and then he got the munchies and it shot way up. It does mess with the levels.

You were definitely right to send this message. He needs to quit especially since I'm assuming he's diabetic. If you need to sound like a parent than that's what you need to do.

Well, the msg. sounds good but just to put your mind at ease a little bit, the weed itself isn't what's going to mess with his blood sugar. If he's eating a lot after he gets high and doesn't take the right amount of insulin to control it, that's what's gonna mess with the blood sugar..not saying it's ok, just telling you how it works..

i agree with the other two ahead of me. You should also remind him that if his blood sugar were to get low while he was high, that he might not be able to get what he needs to return it to a normal level. Or his blood sugar could shoot up and he could go into diabetic ketoacidosis(dka) which can cause you to go into a comma or possibly be fatal. The weed itself won't affect the levels, his blood sugar could have been a little low before smoking and while being high he didnt realize what was happening, and the sugar continued to fall. So the weed doesn't directly effect the blood sugar, but him not noticing it could have.
