I live in Florida and the fleas this year are just awful.
I have bites all over me.
I have gone through most of the over the counter products with little relief. I really can't afford a doctor, is there anything out there that really works? My cats are fine, I comb them all the time, and yes, I kill the fleas I comb off of them.
    Help..

An over-the-counter 1% hydrocortisone cream can help relieve itching.

wash the bites with antiseptic soap to reduce the risk of infection.
apply an ice pack frequently to help relieve swelling.
use calamine lotion, anesthetic creams or similar to treat the itching.

You can take an over the counter allergy medicine like Benadryll or Claritin to help. I think Benadryll works better - but it of course can make you drowsy. For the bits I personally think the most effective thing to put on them is benzocane. You can get it in a spray like Dermaplast. If you prefer a natural remedy you can put tea tree oil in a little olive oil. It is okay by itself, but if you are sensitive or are applying it to sensitive areas it can be drying & a little irritating. I have never had that be an issue for me though & when mixed with olive oil it shouldn't be. Plus tea tree oil speeds healing which is of course nice as well. I happen to be a little extra sensitive to fleas (and they seem to love me) so I feel your pain!
