When taking "daytime" medicines, I need to ask about one of the symptoms?

When you take medicines that are for daytime use, in particular Dayquil, does it keep you awake (like caffeine) or does it just avoid putting you to sleep?

It's very close to my bedtime, and I have a real bad cold and I want to get rid of some of my congestion. But when I looked in my medicine cabinet, all I have for this kind of thing is Dayquil. I need to make sure it won't keep me awake before I take it.

So does it keep me awake, or does it just avoid putting me to sleep and I can still sleep if it's my normal bedtime?

It isn't designed to keep you awake. The Dayquil, compared to the Nyquil, just lacks the one med for cough that tends to make people sleepy.

  3. it's non-drowsy, meaning that it doesn't make you sleepy. but it doesn't contain anything specifically to keep you up. i myself have fallen asleep while taking it.
