I found out i have Polycystic Kidney Disease and liver systs. I need to find a website or place where i can find out which medications are safe if you have kidney disease. ALL the meds im on are bad for my kidney, so i need to get them switched to safe ones. My kidney doctor and primary are both idiots!! So i need to find out on my own and basically tell them because they dont know what theyre doing. Im going to get new doctors but it would take a few weeks, so i need to find out what pills are safe for my kidney. any resources you know of? webmd wasnt very helpful.

Here is a very good website for anyone who has
Polycystic Kidney disease:
http://www.pkd.org/There are so many drugs that are considered harmful
to the kidneys and liver....most doctors weigh the pros
and cons of using many different types of drugs with
what the patient's medical background is.
Though, no one place is going to provide the answer
you need...you need to look up each and every
drug they place you on and read the precaution and
warning section on the drug itself. Please remember
that all drugs have side effects and warnings.
This way you could take that to the doctor and show
them and ask them if there are any other drugs that
may be not as harmful to your kidney.
A urologist deals with the entire urinary system...
A nephrologist is a kidney specialist. Here are some drug sites to look up any
drug you may be taking:
http://www.drugs.com
http://www.rxlist.comOr you could take all your drugs to the pharmacy,
where you got them filled, and ask to speak with
the pharmacist there and he can explain whether
they would be harmful to your kidney or not.
I would ask that the pharmacist document that
you have PKD on your file there.Best wishes to you.
