Why do i always jump when taking a nap?

(3 posts)
  1. Today at school i had a headache. Then at my last block class which was Math i took a nap after the teacher let us solve 10 problems. While i was taking a nap i usually have my head to the side. Then i had my head down. So, everyone is "chillaxin".Then out of nowhere i feel my whole body just jumped on the seat & then im in my head "woah!" It wasn't a surprise to me b/c everytime i have my head down i do that, but this time it was a bigger jump. Then my friend he's just there staring & finally said "are u ok?" im like yea and just laughin. Why everytime i have my head down and not to the side, i jump?

I know its supposedly when you think of yourself falling, but this time when i jumped, i didn't dream of me falling, IT just happened to be my body decided to jump!!! Usually its when i see think myself falling though.
    IS THIS NORMAL?
    & thanks

    Yep.
For one, it's unnatural to fall asleep in a chair- especially one in a school. haha
Anyway, what causes that "falling" motion or that jump when you start to sleep is caused by the deepness.
When you start to sleep, you are in the light and early stages where anything can wake you- so you're a little mor tense when you start to sleep. You still listen more intently, then you slip into the REM stage (dream, deeper sleep) During this changing time, you're body may relax all at the same time. This will cause a jump- which can either wake you up in a louder environment or when you don't need too much sleep, or you can go to sleep.
Perfectly normal, sometimes a bit annoying during naps. Lol
    Have fun sleeping!
