Maybe you were sleeping on it and turned over. Also you may have some type of condition, maybe harmful but probably not. Also your body works different when you sleep. Maybe it was the way it was working. If it goes on and on then see someone but it is probably nothing.

  2. Hi,

What do you do for a job? If you do close work with your hands (i.e., type on a computer all day) waking up with tingling/numbness in your arm could be a sign of carpal tunnel syndrome.

It's also possible that you pinched a nerve or have some other neural-related condition, such as radiculopathy, peripheral neuropathy, or neuralgia. There are many others, but I won't go too far into them.

Do you have any other symptoms? In many cases a tingling sensation isn't enough to diagnose anything. If you keep waking up with tingling or numbness in your arm, I would go see a doctor. Getting something diagnosed sooner will improve your prognosis.

I'd check this site out; it's really useful in figuring out what your symptoms might indicate: http://www.healthline.com/symptomsearch?pagenum=1&addterm=Paresthesia&addterm=Tingling
