i know about 12 people who are type two diabetes and they say there not type one. and there far from fat and they eat lots of sugar and starchy foods they couch potato's. i know obese people have more better chance of getting it. but i think every ones body handles it different am i right or wrong i just don't understand why people only say that a fat people its not just them. i got into arguments with people who say fat people who are the only one that get it and i don't think its true.
oh wait one of the 12 is heavy she like 220 and has type to and the others is skinny.
im not fat i was just wondering why people think this.

Type 2 diabetes is brought on by poor diet; anyone, skinny or fat, can have such a diet. Some people just have faster metabolisms, or work out more, than others.

It is a MYTH that fat people get diabetes.
Only 7.8% of fat, lazy people have diabetes.
This means that the other 92.2% of fat, lazy people are NOT diabetic.
People tend to focus on the negative, and not the positive.
In order for you to get type 2 diabetes the normal way, you must have a genetic predisposition to the disease AND at least one other risk factor. And even then there's no guarantee that anyone will get diabetes.
You can get diabetes from environmental problems like pesticides, herbicides, xenoestrogens, etc, as well as many medications - that's how I got my diabetes :-( .
Accidents and other diseases can cause diabetes too.
The consumption of high fructose corn syrup has been linked to getting type 2 diabetes and even pancreatic cancer (as of 01/17/2010). So, keep drinking all that high fructose corn syrup in those soft drinks, and see what happens.
White flour contains a chemical called alloxan. It is used to make it fluffy and look nice. However, this is the exact same chemical given to lab animals to permanently give them diabetes !
Years ago, when they didn't know much about diabetes, all people saw was fat lazy people getting the disease. This is because they probably were taking insulin and to counter the blood sugar lows, they ate sugar and rested, thus making them lazier and fatter.
Today, about 57% of all type 2 diabetics manage their disease by diet and exercise alone.
I know both fat lazy people and thin athletic people that have diabetes.
4 are thin and athletic and 2 are fat, one of which is lazy.
So, 4 out of 6 are thin and athletic, with only 2 that are fat. Or 66.7% thin and athletic and 33.3% fat and diabetic.
