Why do people hurt them selfs?

    Self-harm is a way of bringing deep seated psychological pain to the surface and turning it into physical pain as a way to get rid of it. That's one theory.

    If someone is hurting themselves, they are having mental health issues. Life isn't like the movies- just loving someone isn't enough. People like that need professional help, and if they're not willing to accept help there's a limit on what you can do. I'm sorry you're going through this.

    Sweetheart, It is called self harm and it doesn't have anything to do with you. If you can understand that when someone self harms which is usually cutting themselves it releases good feeling brain chemicals called Endorphins. This is very wrong and it is dangerous. Self Harm is an addiction they can't stop without professional help. They cut when they are angry, stressed or feeling very emotional. They didn't learn the healthy skills to deal with their emotions. With help they can learn to handle their emotions in healthy ways like others.
