Went to dentist and he insisted that I getting them pulled. Teeth alignment is fine and they don't bother me. Don't see why they need to be pulled.

why get wisdom teeth pulled?

well its all because once upon a time back in caveman days or something like that lol our jaws were made to have 32 teeth... with evolution and stuff our jaws over the years have grown smaller. therefor our jaws cannot support 32 teeth and only 28. These teeth cannot properly be cleaned because they dont grow in properly. most of the time they are still partially impacted and the bottom teeth only grow in halfway and they will retain more plaque and then infections can start. you can also get periocorinitis. this is soo painful and its something that only happens to wisdom teeth which is a very painful infection i have had it and it was the worst 2 days of my life pain killers had no effect. I work in a dental office and at the end of the day they are not worth keeping because they have no function. you dont actually use these teeth they just collect plaque.
and if you have had braces or want braces you definitely need these teeth out because there is no room and it will only mess up your aligment...anyways hope some of that made sense!
once again these teeth have no function anymore they will only serve as a problem down the road
take care

I think they can lead to impaction issues later on down the road, but just because they can cause issues later on doesn't exactly mean they will.

i work for a general dentist, she just learned at various seminars is that in the past as long as they come in straight and you can clean them most of the time it is ok to keep them. But now she learned from various oral surgeons that you may be ok when you are young, but once you reach you older years, dentist tends to see problems, like bone loss in the back and more possible cavities. We see a lot of our older patients not be able to clean them as well as when they were young. It is more problematic to remove them as you age. The main reason they are removing wisdom teeth is to save the 2nd molars, of the cases the doctors followed, when problems arise with the wisdom teeth sometimes it can cause problems to the 2nd molars and you end up losing the 2nd molars too.

DO NOT GET THEM REMOVED!!! If your dentist has no good reason to have them removed, don't do it. If they are impacted, or if they are going to cause you extreme pain, then get them removed, but if not, keep them. They won't kill or even hurt you if there is enough room for them. The surgery will hurt you, and if you get general anesthetic, it could even possibly kill you. So unless they WILL hurt you or if they are impacted, don't do it!

What's your age? If its more than 22 years then it might be the reason that the tooth has not erupted well into the mouth, as the other teeth. Its not the alignment which always decides whether to get the tooth pulled or not.

I work for an oral surgeon and we get this a lot, they serve no function, and they may not be hurting you now. They will cause you problems later, they are so far back if they do come in you cant keep them clean, so you will eventually have them out. Plus the older you are the harder they are to come out the more complications there are. There can damage your nerve (when they are extracted) in your mandible if you wait to long. Its easier on you if you get them out when you are young and healthy. Its very rare that someone lives their entire life with these teeth, but it is of course up to you what you do. You may want to consult with an oral surgeon and talk to them about it.

If they don't hurt and your mouth is big anough there really is no need it sounds like they might want to get more money out of you
