they truth will come out in time, its going on the ballot in cally in november and if its voted by the people, which it will, then it will be legal for anyone 21+ of age. Then there will be a lot more awareness and others will educate themselves on it. I am a average smoker, i smoke once every other week, maybe more if its not getting in the way of something else and i hate cigarettes. the upcoming generation is very tolerant of weed, half of all seniors in high school have tried it at least once from a study i read and to me that seems very true. As for the adults now, i think most are the last part of this "reefer madness" junk and once thats over with we can move forward with getting this off the streets and having it associated with other drugs. i hate to see some of my friends trying new drugs but thats what happens when your dealer isn't a licensed seller, they have the weed but they also have those cool looking pill, coke, acid, and the list goes on.. once its separated from that we can look at it for what it is, just a freaking plant.

Why do they think it can "kill" you. Like anything if used too much it can have harmful effects but if you smoke it like a couple times a month, not everyday, i don't see the problems with it. I understand why people think it "ruins your life" because of potheads who smoke all day long and don't do anything else, but if you smoke it occasionally then why is it so bad? Its proven to be better for you then cigarettes and alcohal and its NOT addicting.
no it is NOT addicting and im not saying its good for you but you don't hear people freaking out if someones smoking a cigarette or drinking a beer, why is it different with weed? Oh and the reason why they don't do research on long term effects is because they don't want to expose the real truth behind weed, that it can actually HELP people.Posted 2 years ago # -
Just because it's better for you than cigarettes and alcohol, that doesn't mean it's good for you. Plus, scientists don't really know the long-term effects of smoking it even occasionally.
EDIT: Yes, it can help people if you take it for medicinal purposes. They HAVE done research on that. But so can Adderall, and you usually don't see people going around taking Adderall when they weren't prescribed it. It can kill you if you do. Just because it's good for you when you're prescribed it doesn't mean it's good for you without a prescription.

*alter your cognition
*raise your likelihood of developing neuropsychiatric disorders or symptoms, especially if you start as a teen
*increase your risk of prostate cancer times 3

It a drug. I think it is probably better than the antidepressants and some other medical drugs, but the bottom line is it is not natural to the body and it can unbalance the body.
I'm not sure how it can help people. It can however strip the body of vital nutrients which then causes other problems.

Oh all that crap came from a long long time ago...You're right, it's all bullshit, lemme explain...
Around 50 or 60 or 70 years ago (I forget when exactly) the paper companies felt threatened by the hemp industry since hemp is a very good resource (and it's made from weed) so they created a ton of propaganda and advertisements that made reefer seem like the worst thing in the world. They said it drives you insane, that it makes you kill or rape people that it was associated with african american crime. Ever see "REEFER MADNESS" the movie? It was a propaganda film about pot, it was about how it ruins people (you should watch it and get high, it's fricken hilarious, it was supposed to be serious but it ended up just being funny). And of course the people demanded that congress make it illegal along with other drugs that were far more dangerous. So they did.
All of the stigma that's associated with it is real real old and people are only just now starting to realize that it's not that bad for you.

a plant that patients can use to cure their own illness means no executive bonuses for Big Pharma.
They will lie and say anything to keep this plant illegal. They will lobby millions of dollars to politicians just to keep this plant federally illegal.

Not everyone is against it. But the people that are, are just being persuaded by all of the government's propaganda. They believe that it's so bad and can make you lazy and all of that. And that it 'kills brain cells'. Most of those are myths and the government probably just keeps it illegal because it would put so many pharmaceutical companies out of business, look how many are in favor of medical marijuana. I agree with you, it hasn't ever killed anybody, where as people have died from cigarettes and alcohol. There has been some research that tumors in animals decreased significantly in size from being given THC, the active ingredient in weed. And think of how much money the hospitals and treatment centers would lose if every cancer patient began smoking weed to cure themselves.

You tell them ... everyone has the right to their opinion I guess ... one day the truth will be told.
I'm all for Cannabis - should be legal and should be use as a material for bio fuel, paper products, clothes and many many more.
People freak out about it because they were taught Cannabis ( Marijuana = Mexican word for Cannabis ) is bad for you. Back in the day our people were so racist they didn't want people to associate with Mexicans, Blacks, Asians ... etc ... not to mention the whole paper issue - Cannabis would put our paper companies out of business and guess who was in charge of our laws back then - the freakin' Paper Company Families ... they didn't want to lose all that money from all their land.
It all comes down to this: POWER-MONEY-POLITICS ... that's the only reason Cannabis is still illegal.
