So yesterday, February 24th 2010. I got a call from my doctor that told me that I have genital herpes for life.
Why me? ... I feel so depressed right now. I never thought that I would end up with something like this.
I'm lucky I have a loving family & supportive friends to get through this.

The funny thing is, someone out there gave me this shit. I want to find out. All of my friends are going to get STD tests, because somehow, someway they are out there running around with herpes.

I don't blame anyone but... myself.

How many others are out there living with herpes today?

Just be happy it isn't a life threatening disease. Really think about how much worse it could be.. Yeah you've got herpes..But in the long run it's just an annoyance. It doesn't shorten your life at all what so ever, you can still go on in life and do what ever you want. And theres medication to keep it under control..

Just try to be more careful who you sleep with, and be happy what you have right now isn't going to ruin your life. Its really just an annoying thing to have, that wont affect your health at all.

who have you had sex with recently? these should be the people out getting STD checks..

I have HSV-1 genital herpes for receiving oral sex. How did you contract the virus? Do some thinking and try to figure out how this could of happened.

Are you taking valtrex? I highly recommend this if you are sexual active. It will not only reduce the risk of you spreading the virus it will also cause fewer outbreaks. I use to take Valtrex once daily when i was first diagnosed but unfortunately do not have the money to pay for them any longer.

I was diagnosed when i was 17.. your 19 either age it sucks. You are young and have your whole life ahead of you.. dont let this diagnoses set you back from your dreams, goals, and plans for the future. I almost let this happen.. after i was diagnosed i didnt even want to live. I was extremely depressed, took 2 weeks off of school, and just didnt want to be around anyone. To add to my stress I was diagnosed with Ocular Herpes 6 months later. Some advice to all with herpes! If you wear contacts be sure to wear them properly or the Herpes virus can spread to your eye! This happened to me, and I am now in school working towards becoming a nurse soo i can educate others on STD's specifically Herpes because many don't know how serious it is.

Soo i hope this helps you out a little. Feel free to send me a message or a email rissadiss@yahoo.com if you have any more questions or simply wanna chat with someone else just like you! PS. im 19 also.

Even if you are not experiencing symptoms, sexual educators and specialist recommend highly that all sexually active individuals get tested regularly. In fact the standard of regular STD testing is every 3 months, even if you are with the same partner. With temptation and infidelity being at all time highs; it is never a good idea to “assume” when it comes to your health. Getting STD tested regularly and especially prior to engaging in sexual intercourse with a new partner are necessary to building an awareness to yourself and your partner that you take your health seriously, and if they want have or continue to have a relationship with you, that they should do the same.
