Why would a doctor need to see you every month for a refill of ultram?

    His nurse said to many of his friends have been in trouble for prescribing pain medication, and he doesn't want to take the risk.

    Ultram is not even a controlled substance. I think he might be a crackpot who just wants the extra medicaid money.
    It is also not a controlled substance in my state. That is for the first answer.

    NOW it is up to you if you want the refill. He maybe a greedy person, but you don't have to be.

  3. While technically not considered a controlled substance by the FDA or DEA, it really acts exactly like a narcotic and can have the same withdrawal effects. There are so many studies that support this. He likely wants you to come in every month to be sure you are not developing "drug seeking behavior" or addiction. In reality, it is no safer than Oxycodone, hydrocodone, or morphine, and can have much worse side effects. Be careful, for your own sake/
