I wore braces from 6th grade to 9th. Now I'm in the 11th & I just got my wisdom teeth removed. I haven't been wearing my reatiner because it broke & It's very expensive to get replaced. So would I have to get braces again in order to straighten my teeth back up??

Your retainer will be cheaper than a new set of braces. Check with your ortho. Schedule an appointment to discuss your options. If you had your wisdom teeth extracted, you may have needed a new retainer anyway and that is usually done at no charge due to dental work. If you have gone too long without your retainer prior to the wisdom teeth and your teeth have moved too much, then there may be a charge for a new one but its still cheaper if they don't have to re-do braces!

Yes, if you don't wear the retainer for as long as your dentist said, your teeth are going to move into the way they were before you even got your braces. It won't be as bad, but I'm sorry to tell you that unless your dentist says that you're done, you'll be slave to them braces/retainer.

You might have to:(. You should just see which is cheaper though, getting a new retainer or getting braces again. Maybe even checkout invisalign if you're worried about your appearance with braces.

If your teeth are not straight anymore, you will need something to straighten them again.
A retainer is designed to keep the teeth from moving and maintain the results achieved with the braces.
Now there is Invisalign which will straighten teeth without braces, but regardless of what you use, your options will be a lot more costly than it would have been if you had replaced the retainer in time.
The retainer is like an insurance policy: As long as you wear it your teeth will keep straight. If you don't wear it they will move.Posted 2 years ago # -
